This was a compact, high-end development in St Albans, tucked down a quiet cul‑de‑sac just off the Metropolitan line. We were hired to build this four-bedroom, four-bathroom detached home designed for open-plan family living with luxury touches throughout.

From the moment we broke ground, our focus was on precision. The brickwork had to sit cleanly with the triple-glazed windows, and the roofline needed crisp detailing. Internally, the ceilings were set generously, and the architect wanted that sense of space as soon as you stepped in.

Our in-house team took charge of everything from foundations to finishes. We laid solid slab insulation and underfloor heating beneath generous porcelain tiles in the kitchen and living areas. Early coordination with the kitchen specialists ensured the integrated appliances fitted seamlessly into the high-end cabinetry. That open-plan layout was key, with walls framed, services run, and droplights recessed, so when the shaker-style kitchen arrived, it slotted neatly into place.

Upstairs, we built two en-suite bathrooms and two further bedrooms. They all received high-spec fittings, precise tiling, and careful detailing, so everything appropriately aligned, recessed shelves, concealed toilet frames, and tiled thresholds. Plumbing and electrics were staged early to avoid last-minute compromises during the fit-out.

Outside, we laid a large driveway, sculpted into a small landscaped garden, and installed a turf lawn to complete the look. We handled the wiring of the EV charger into the garage and ensured that all drainage was tied into the site’s broader requirements.

We operated to a tight, ten-month programme and held regular catch-ups with the site manager and developer. Deliveries, inspections, snagging — they all moved smoothly. Handed over on time and finished to schedule, the home went live on the market with the 10-year structural warranty in place. It’s a good example of how we work, combining traditional materials with modern performance and no shortcuts.
